Allan Grimson Jailed 22 More Years for Navy Sex Offences

A former Royal Navy petty officer already serving a life sentence for murdering two young sailors has been given a further 22 years in prison for a series of non-recent sexual offences.
Allan Grimson was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on Friday after a jury convicted him on 27 July of offences committed between 1994 and 1999 against a teenage boy and young Royal Navy recruits. He was found guilty of 11 counts of indecent assault, one count of rape and one count of taking indecent photographs of a child.
He will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least 13 years of the new sentence.
The murders
Grimson pleaded guilty in March 2001 to murdering Royal Navy ratings Nicholas Wright and Sion Jenkins, whom he killed in 1997 and 1998 after meeting them in Portsmouth. He was jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years.
Sentencing him at the time, Mr Justice Cresswell told him: "You are a serial killer in nature if not in number."
Winchester Crown Court heard Grimson could have been released on parole while serving his life sentence until he was charged with the historic sexual offences. The fresh charges were laid in February last year, as he was being prepared for release from a lower-security prison.
The Crown Prosecution Service said the case was reviewed after the Child Sexual Abuse Review Panel, a joint initiative of the National Police Chiefs' Council and the Crown Prosecution Service, looked at the historic allegations.
