BBC begins search for UK Eurovision 2027 act

The BBC has begun its search for the United Kingdom's act and song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, confirming on Tuesday 27 October 2026 that the hunt is under way for the entry that will compete in Burgas, Bulgaria, next May.
An industry-led search
UK Eurovision project director David May is leading the search, working with Andrew Cartmell, executive producer and head of delegation, and teams from BBC Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Studios Entertainment Production and BBC Entertainment Commissioning. The BBC will internally select the act and song, with no submissions window for acts to apply, and will search across UK labels, publishers and the independent sector for contemporary British songwriting and performers with proven live experience. The chosen act and song will be announced before the European Broadcasting Union's submission deadline in March 2027.
After last place in 2026
The search follows the UK's last-place finish at Eurovision 2026, when Look Mum No Computer, the stage name of Sam Battle, finished with one point for the song Eins, Zwei, Drei. Bulgaria's Dara won that contest with Bangaranga, taking the 2027 contest to the Arena Burgas, where the semi-finals and grand final will be held on 11, 13 and 15 May 2027. May previously managed Sam Ryder, the UK's runner-up in 2022, and said it was time the United Kingdom reached the top of the scoreboard once again.
