Boeing shares fell sharply on Tuesday 27 October 2026, holding back the Dow Jones Industrial Average on a day when the wider United States stock market moved higher. Investopedia reported that the Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 closed higher, while the Dow finished only fractionally higher, with the fall in Boeing limiting the blue-chip index.

How far Boeing fell during the day

The size of the fall changed through the session, so the figures reported at different times are not directly comparable. A Dow Jones Market Data note carried by Morningstar at 10:47 a.m. Eastern Time put Boeing at $173.37, down 7.93% at that point in the day. Investopedia's closing report described a fall of nearly 11%. The later figure reflects the full session, while the earlier figure was an intraday snapshot.

At that intraday point, Morningstar's Dow Jones data put Boeing's drag on the Dow at 88.8 points.

Investors were looking ahead to the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision on Wednesday 28 October, with Alphabet and Microsoft also due to report earnings after markets closed that day. Market moves of this kind are not investment advice, and a single day's share price move does not by itself show the longer-term direction of a company or an index.
