BP shares go ex-dividend on 12 November

BP shares go ex-dividend on Thursday 12 November, meaning investors must own the stock before that date to qualify for the oil major's next quarterly payout.
The company declared an interim dividend of 8.660 US cents per ordinary share alongside its third-quarter results, published on 30 October. The payment is expected on 18 December. Holders of BP's American depositary shares face an ex-dividend date of 13 November, with a dividend of $0.5196 per ADS.
Anyone buying BP shares on or after 12 November will not receive this dividend, which goes instead to the seller. The payout is in line with the previous quarterly dividend, giving BP a trailing yield of about 4.6%.
The dividend was declared as BP reported third-quarter underlying replacement cost profit of $8.5 billion, up from the previous quarter, and operating cash flow of $14.8 billion. Net debt stood at $13.9 billion at the end of September, down from $22.3 billion at the end of the second quarter.
BP's next major milestone for investors is a strategy and outlook update scheduled for 15 December, when the company will set out its plans for the coming years.
