Colgate Pakistan to buy P&G Port Qasim factory

Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Limited has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire land, a manufacturing facility and related assets from Procter & Gamble Pakistan (Private) Limited at Port Qasim in Karachi. The company disclosed the agreement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Wednesday 28 October 2026. Completion of the deal is still subject to approval from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, so the transfer is not yet final.

A deal first signalled in May

The signing follows an earlier disclosure on 14 May 2026, when Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan told the stock exchange that it planned to acquire the Port Qasim site. The October agreement therefore moves a previously announced plan a step closer to completion, but regulatory clearance remains the remaining hurdle. No purchase price was disclosed in the reports of the stock exchange filing, and no completion date was given.

Part of P&G's wider withdrawal from local manufacturing

The sale sits within P&G’s decision to wind down its manufacturing and commercial operations in Pakistan and instead serve customers through third-party distributors and regional operations, as part of a global restructuring programme. That programme has also involved the elimination of 7,000 non-manufacturing jobs worldwide. Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan, which began operations in 1977 as National Detergents Limited and took its current name in 1990, already makes detergents and personal care products in the country, and the Port Qasim site would add to its existing manufacturing base if the regulator approves the deal.
