Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met the Ambassador of China, Jiang Zaidong, in Islamabad on Sunday to review bilateral cooperation and discuss regional developments, Pakistan's Foreign Office said. Dar appreciated the continued progress in the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and highlighted ongoing collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as well as cooperation in connectivity, trade and investment, agricultural modernisation and people-to-people exchanges.

A 75-year relationship

The meeting comes as Pakistan and China mark 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026, and as both countries seek to deepen their economic partnership beyond traditional infrastructure development. Dar underscored the importance of sustained high-level interactions to advance the vision of a Pakistan-China Community of Shared Future in the New Era, the Foreign Office said.

Dialogue on regional issues

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments and reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in promoting sustainable peace, stability and prosperity across the region. The discussion reflects the breadth of a relationship that now spans infrastructure, trade, agriculture and technology, as well as the regular diplomatic contact both capitals describe as central to their partnership.
