The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, held a special interactive session with students and faculty members of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) in Lahore on 7 November.

The session at the historic medical university gave students a chance to put questions directly to the military's spokesman on national security, international affairs, Pakistan's defence challenges and other issues of public interest.

Students praise the discussion

Students at KEMU praised the session, saying the discussion helped broaden their understanding of Pakistan's security situation and of regional and international developments. They welcomed the opportunity to raise questions face to face and said such sessions should be organised more often, so young people can hear the armed forces' perspective directly and test their own views against it.

Minority doctor welcomes the DG ISPR

During the session, Pakistan's first Sikh doctor, Dr Mimpal Singh, welcomed the DG ISPR and expressed his deep affection for Pakistan, reaffirming his strong bond with the country. He said the facilities and opportunities available to religious minorities in Pakistan reflected the country's diversity and inclusiveness, and that Pakistan had given him respect, recognition and a distinct identity, along with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

Expressing solidarity with the armed forces, Dr Mimpal Singh said members of the minority communities stood shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan's Armed Forces and would continue to support them. The session formed part of the military spokesman's continuing round of engagements with students at universities in Lahore, where he has been addressing questions on security, social media and misinformation.
