Fresh Explosions Heard on Qeshm Island and Jask

Explosions were heard on Saturday on Iran's Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz and in the southern Iranian port of Jask, Iranian media reported, with the cause unclear.
Reuters reported that there was no official confirmation from the Iranian side on the source of the reported explosions. Earlier on Saturday, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency said two missiles had struck Qeshm Island, with no official information on possible damage.
The state news agency IRNA, citing local witnesses, reported that two projectiles had hit the Suza area of Qeshm Island after the sound of an aircraft was heard overhead. State television separately said two explosions were heard in the Suza area late on Friday and that there were no casualties. The Fars news agency reported explosions in Qeshm and in the port city of Bandar Khamir, saying they might be linked to warning shots towards the Strait of Hormuz.
The reports come a day after President Donald Trump confirmed that US forces had carried out limited strikes on an Iranian air-defence installation on Qeshm Island, describing them as minor. There was no immediate US confirmation that Washington was responsible for the specific impacts reported on Saturday, and the precise relationship between the reported explosions and the operation Mr Trump confirmed has not been independently established.
Iran's army also said on Saturday that its air defences had destroyed an American MQ-9 Reaper drone over Qeshm Island. The claim has not been confirmed by the United States, and US Central Command has not commented on it. It was the second drone Tehran has claimed to have brought down over Qeshm in two days, after the Revolutionary Guards said on Friday they had intercepted a US MQ-1 drone.
