FBR tax offices open until 8pm on 31 October

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed its Inland Revenue field offices across Pakistan to remain open until 8pm on Saturday, 31 October 2026, to help taxpayers complete payments ahead of the income tax return filing deadline for Tax Year 2026. The instruction covers Large Taxpayer Offices (LTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs), which would otherwise be closed on a Saturday, the weekly holiday.
According to reports of the official communication, the directive was issued by the FBR's Inland Revenue Operations wing on 26 October 2026 and addressed to chief commissioners of Inland Revenue. It is titled "Observance of Extended Working Hours on Saturday, 31st October, 2026" and instructs the field formations to remain operational until 8pm on that date.
What the extended hours cover
The extended schedule is intended to give taxpayers extra time to complete payment-related formalities before the deadline. FBR officials said taxpayers will be guided on technical problems and other issues they face while filing returns, so that returns can be submitted and taxes paid without difficulty. Chief commissioners have also been told to monitor office timings and other administrative arrangements for the day.
Why the deadline matters
31 October is the deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2026, and the FBR says the Saturday opening is meant to reduce last-minute difficulties for filers. Taxpayers are advised to complete their return filing and payment formalities within the stipulated time to avoid complications linked to late compliance. The reports of the directive do not describe any further extension of the deadline itself.
