FIA arrests woman over Rs5.2m UK work visa fraud

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a woman accused of defrauding a man of Rs5.2 million with false promises of a UK work visa, recovering Rs2 million during the investigation. DNA News Agency reported the arrest on 8 November.
According to an FIA official, the agency's Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Rawalpindi made the arrest under FIR No. 285/2026 after the complainant reported that he had paid Rs5.2 million in instalments for a job in the United Kingdom that never materialised.
Investigators say the woman first supplied a fake International English Language Testing System (IELTS) certificate in exchange for Rs1 million. She later allegedly promised to arrange the visa through marriage, providing a fake marriage registration certificate and an agreement on e-stamp paper, with another accused person acting as guarantor.
When the complainant demanded his money back, the accused allegedly refused and threatened him, the FIA said. The agency has recovered Rs2 million and is working to recover the remaining amount and establish the involvement of other suspects.
Inspector Iqra Jahangir is investigating the case. The FIA said its Islamabad Zone would continue action against people involved in human smuggling and visa fraud. The allegations have not been tested in court, and the woman has not been named in the agency's public account of the case.
