Formula 1 will keep racing in Brazil through 2035 after announcing a five-year extension for the São Paulo Grand Prix on Saturday, during the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend at Interlagos.

The new deal extends an agreement that already ran until 2030, following an earlier extension agreed in 2023. It guarantees that the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, better known as Interlagos, remains on the Formula 1 calendar for at least another ten editions, including this weekend's race.

Interlagos has hosted Formula 1 for more than 50 years and has been an ever-present fixture since 1990, apart from the Covid-affected 2020 season. A race in Brazil has been part of the championship in every season since 1973, and São Paulo is currently the only South American round.

Formula 1 president and chief executive Stefano Domenicali said Brazil was an important part of the sport's history and its future, adding that he was delighted the extension would keep racing in São Paulo until 2035. São Paulo mayor Ricardo Nunes called the renewal a very significant achievement for the city, saying it would boost the economy, create jobs, strengthen tourism and raise the city's international profile.

The 2025 race drew 303,627 spectators, up from 291,717 the year before, and Formula 1 said the event generated R$2.3 billion for São Paulo, a 9.7% increase on the previous record. Brazil's fanbase has grown to 75.8 million, with 44% of fans female and 41% under 35.

Next season's São Paulo Grand Prix is scheduled for 5–7 November 2027.
