Gloucester Sword Incident Near School: Boy Hurt, Woman Held

Armed police were called to a street near a Gloucester secondary school on Friday morning after two males, one carrying a sword, were reported to have chased two teenage boys, leaving one with a minor injury.
Gloucestershire Police were called shortly after 8.50am to Chalford Road in Tuffley, near St Peter's High School, after reports of an altercation. Officers said two males, one in possession of a long-bladed item, had been seen chasing two 17-year-olds. One of the boys sustained a superficial wound believed to have been caused by the sword.
A woman was arrested after officers stopped a vehicle. She was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in police custody for questioning. The two males fled the scene on foot and officers are continuing to search for them.
Police appeal for witnesses
Detective Inspector Sophie Dawkins said: "We completely understand the concern this incident would have caused, especially when it happened near a school at drop off time."
Police said there was a large police presence in Tuffley and that armed officers attended. They said they believed there was no ongoing threat to the school and that pupils were safe within the school grounds, and asked parents not to attend the premises.
Officers have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Gloucestershire Police, quoting reference number 53260095808.
Police later clarified that the injured teenager was not taken to hospital, contrary to earlier reports.
