Iran's Revolutionary Guards have said restrictions on the country's missile range have been lifted, and that the force would prepare for a change in Iran's nuclear doctrine if the leadership ordered one.

IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi told the Fars news agency on Saturday that work on extending missile range was continuing, adding that Tehran must demonstrate the capability in practice. Asked whether the Guards would prepare for a shift in nuclear doctrine, he said: "If the political system concludes that it needs to move in that direction, we will establish the necessary state of readiness."

The comments came as satellite imagery showed Iran rebuilding and hardening military sites damaged by months of US and Israeli airstrikes. A BBC Verify investigation published on Friday, drawing on imagery analysed by British intelligence company MAIAR, identified significant excavation and new construction at the Garmdareh missile base in Karaj, near Tehran, and at Shahroud in northern Iran, with signs of repairs at at least 12 other military installations.

Former CIA analyst Jim Lamson told the BBC that excavation near Shahroud could be connected to missile production, and that the Guards may be seeking to move manufacturing underground to protect it from future attacks. Analysts' assessments differ on how much production capacity Iran has restored.

The Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies said construction was also increasing at Pickaxe Mountain, an underground complex near the Natanz nuclear facility. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly said Iran's military capabilities have been largely destroyed, while Washington has urged its citizens in the Middle East to exercise increased caution amid the risk of further attacks.
