Israeli Forces Strike South Lebanon and Syria's Quneitra

** Israeli forces carried out strikes in southern Lebanon and southern Syria on Friday, bombing a municipality in Lebanon's Bint Jbeil district and shelling farmland in Syria's Quneitra province, according to local reports. No casualties were reported in the accounts of the strikes.
In Lebanon, Israeli forces bombed the al-Tayri municipality in the Bint Jbeil district, Lebanon's National News Agency reported. In Syria, Israeli artillery fired shells at farmland near Tal Ahmar al-Sharqi and al-Hamriyah Hill, near the village of Tranja, and near Ain Ziwan in southern rural Quneitra, according to Syrian broadcaster Alikhbariah TV and Anadolu Agency.
A pattern of incursions
The shelling fits a pattern of near-daily Israeli military activity in southern Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government in December 2024. A day earlier, Alikhbariah reported that an Israeli force of nine military vehicles had entered al-Hurriya village in northern rural Quneitra, and Israeli forces have repeatedly set up checkpoints, searched homes and bulldozed farmland in Quneitra and Daraa provinces.
Israel has also expanded its presence in the buffer zone along the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, despite the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement between Israel and Syria. In Lebanon, Israeli operations in the south have continued for months, with Israel saying its strikes target the Iran-backed group Hezbollah.
The incidents underline how Israel's northern front has stayed active even as diplomats in Qatar and elsewhere try to prevent a wider regional escalation of the war that began with US and Israeli strikes on Iran in February.
