Thirteen-year-old Kenyan golfer Kanana Muthomi has won the individual title at the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) in Abuja, finishing six shots clear of her nearest rival in the continental women's championship.

Muthomi, popularly known as Nana, returned rounds of 77, 77 and 75 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club to finish on 13-over-par. South Africa's Isabella Ferreira finished second on 19-over-par, with another South African, Charlotte Millard, third on 23-over-par.

In the team competition, South Africa reclaimed the championship with an aggregate score of 464, finishing six strokes ahead of Kenya on 470. Tanzania placed third with 479, while hosts Nigeria finished fourth with 500 strokes. South Africa's victory restored its dominance after losing the title to Morocco in the 2024 edition, taking its championship haul to 15.

Kenya's Bianca Ngecu also won the AACT Junior Trophy after a closely contested playoff against her South African opponent that extended to the fourth extra hole.

The five-day championship attracted golfers from 19 African countries and ended on Friday with a closing ceremony and dinner at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Conference Centre in Abuja. Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, performed the ceremonial tee-off at the start of the tournament on Tuesday, 3 November.

Muthomi praised her teammates after the win, noting that Kenya had arrived in Abuja determined to challenge South Africa's longstanding dominance of the competition. Nigeria's fourth-place finish put the hosts ahead of 15 other participating nations.
