Luka Doncic scored a season-high 53 points to carry the Los Angeles Lakers to a 124-118 comeback win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.

Doncic shot 17 of 33 from the field, including five three-pointers, and made 14 of 18 free throws, adding five rebounds and five assists. It was his 11th career 50-point game, moving him into a tie for 10th place on the NBA's all-time list, and his fourth game in a row with at least 40 points this season.

The defining moment came at the end of the first half. With the Lakers struggling from beyond the arc, Doncic launched a 62-foot, three-quarter-court heave that dropped through at the buzzer, cutting Portland's lead and sparking the comeback.

The Lakers had trailed for much of the night, but they took control after the break and held off a late Portland rally. The visitors closed to 114-110 with just over 50 seconds remaining after Damian Lillard made two free throws, before Doncic sealed the win with a floater inside the final 30 seconds.

Austin Reaves added 25 points for Los Angeles, and Walker Kessler scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Lakers avenged a loss at Portland last week. The win was the Lakers' fourth in a row and their second 50-point game from Doncic this season.

For Portland, the defeat left them winless in NBA Cup group play, while the Lakers moved to one win and one defeat in the competition. The Lakers had struggled with nearly every shot from deep for the first 24 minutes before Doncic's buzzer-beater changed the game, and the home crowd at Crypto.com Arena watched their star guard take over in the second half to preserve the winning run.
