Man dies after Stockport bus crash on A6 road

Morning collision in Heaviley
A man has died after being hit by a bus on a busy road in Stockport on Friday morning. Greater Manchester Police said emergency services were called to the A6 Buxton Road, near Winifred Road, at 10.40am. The pedestrian, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bus services diverted
The bus involved was a Manchester Bee Network service. Bee Network said it was deeply saddened by the death and confirmed the 192 service was diverted while emergency services worked at the scene. Bus operator High Peak also warned passengers to make alternative arrangements, as services in the area were affected.
Road closure and investigation
Police closed part of the A6 in Heaviley while investigations continued. Officers asked people to avoid the area and make alternative travel arrangements where possible. Police said work was under way to establish the full circumstances of the collision, and no further details about the man had been released at the time of reporting.
The closure affected a busy commuter route, with a section of road taped off near the junction with Winifred Road. Bee Network confirmed the 192 service was diverted, while High Peak said its 199 service was also affected and warned the road would be closed for some time because of the nature of the incident.
