Met Office fog warning covers 74 UK areas until 10am

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog covering 74 areas across the UK, in force from midnight until 10am on Sunday 1 November 2026, with warnings of difficult driving conditions and possible disruption to travel.
The warning, announced at 11.19pm on Saturday 31 October, covers parts of the East Midlands, the East of England, London and the South East, the North West, the South West, Wales, the West Midlands and Yorkshire and the Humber. Fog developed widely overnight and was expected to persist into Sunday morning before slowly lifting and clearing.
Travel disruption expected
Drivers were urged to take extra care, with visibility poor on many routes in the warning area. The forecaster also warned of delays to bus and train services, and a chance of delays or cancellations to flights, as fog affected airports as well as roads.
The list of affected areas runs from Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire in the Midlands, through Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk in the East, to Greater London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and the South West counties, as well as parts of Wales and the North West.
When conditions improve
The fog was expected to clear by 10am on Sunday, with travel conditions gradually improving as visibility lifts. Anyone travelling early on Sunday was advised to allow extra time, check with their transport operator before setting out, and keep a greater distance from the vehicle in front in fog.
Yellow warnings mean weather may cause some disruption, rather than danger to life, but the Met Office advises road users to slow down and use fog lights where visibility falls below 100 metres.
