NCCIA takes cyber safety lessons to schools in four cities

Pakistan's National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has held cyber awareness sessions at schools and colleges in four cities — Multan, Gujranwala, Gilgit and Sahiwal — to teach students and teachers about online fraud, cyber harassment and the safe use of social media. The sessions were reported by Associated Press of Pakistan on 27 October.
According to the agency, the campaigns were organised by its circles in each city on the directions of Director General NCCIA Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, with large numbers of students and faculty members taking part. Officers briefed participants on using social media safely and responsibly, and on precautions against online harassment.
What students were taught
The sessions gave practical guidance on spotting fake links, avoiding One-Time Password (OTP) scams, and steering clear of fraudulent loan applications and other online financial fraud. Officers warned that criminals often use fake prize offers and bogus job opportunities to steal personal information and money from unsuspecting people.
How to report cybercrime
Students and teachers were also briefed on how to report cybercrime complaints and on the use of the NCCIA helpline, 1799. Director General Rizvi said protecting the younger generation from cyber threats remained a top priority for the agency, adding that awareness campaigns would continue across the country to promote safe and responsible use of digital platforms and help build a secure Digital Pakistan.
