Norton Motorcycles announced on Monday a new 450cc urban motorcycle, in a significant step in the British brand's resurgence. Developed as part of Norton's new product strategy, the motorcycle is powered by a liquid-cooled 454cc single-cylinder engine producing 45 Nm of torque, with an emphasis on responsive, accessible performance.

Sales in 2027, name still to come

Sales will begin in 2027, with the motorcycle's official model name to be revealed ahead of launch. No price, weight or full specification sheet was given in the announcement reported on Monday, so buyers will need to wait for the formal launch details before judging where the new machine will sit in Norton's range. The urban focus marks a move towards a more accessible machine than the larger motorcycles with which the brand is traditionally associated.

Backing from TVS

Norton's resurgence is supported by TVS Motor Company's long-term investment in the British company, including the continued development of its Solihull facility in the UK as a centre for motorcycle design and engineering, along with TVS Motor's global engineering centre in Italy and TVS Motor's research and development headquarters in India. The company has established a retail network of more than 50 locations across 10 markets, including the UK, Italy, France, Germany and Spain.

Part of a wider new range

Earlier, at EICMA 2025, Norton unveiled four new-generation motorcycles: the Manx, Manx R, Atlas and Atlas GT. The new 450cc urban motorcycle extends that renewal into a smaller, city-focused segment, and its reception when sales begin in 2027 will be a test of whether the revived brand can reach riders beyond its traditional base.
