Pakistan cabinet ratifies Kuwait defence pact

Pakistan's federal cabinet has ratified a defence cooperation agreement with Kuwait. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday 4 November 2026, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a Prime Minister's Office handout reported by The News International.
The agreement
The agreement was signed on 11 June 2023 to foster cooperation in the defence sector between the two countries, and Kuwait had already ratified it. The News lists the cooperation fields as military manufacturing, electronic communications systems, scientific research, military media, and cultural and sports activities. The pact will remain in force for five years and will be automatically renewed unless either side decides to terminate it.
Same meeting
The same cabinet meeting also approved the transfer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister's delegated powers to the provincial governor, and new currency-note designs.
