Petrol Falls to Rs346 as OGRA Cuts Fuel Prices Again

Petrol in Pakistan now costs Rs346 a litre after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) cut the price by Rs6.59, while high-speed diesel has fallen by Rs4.25 to Rs378 a litre. The revised prices took effect on 7 November and will remain in force until 10 November, with the longer window covering the public holiday on 9 November.

The latest reduction follows a series of cuts in the first week of November. Petrol stood at Rs352.59 a litre before this revision and diesel at Rs382.25, according to Mettis Global, which reported the OGRA notification. The regulator sets ex-depot prices under the pricing mechanism approved by the federal government, adjusting them in line with international oil prices.

The fall has been steep over the past week. PakWheels reports that petrol has dropped from Rs377.91 a litre on 31 October to Rs346, a reduction of Rs31.91, while diesel has fallen from Rs402.96 to Rs378, down Rs24.96 over the same period. Both starting prices are confirmed by OGRA.

Pakistan moved to a daily fuel pricing mechanism in July, under which OGRA revises local prices using a seven-day average of international prices. The regulator also publishes daily Platts data alongside its price announcements, giving a clearer picture of how global markets feed into pump prices. Motorists should watch for the next OGRA notification after 10 November, when the current rates expire.
