Six people were injured in overnight Russian strikes on Ukraine on Monday, 26 October 2026, Ukrainian officials said. A strike on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia injured four people overnight, regional governor Mykhailo Semikin said on Telegram, while two more people were injured in strikes on the Chernihiv region, according to Ukraine's emergency service. Ukrainian air force communications head Yuriy Ignat said Russian forces launched missiles and 140 strike drones on the night of 26 October, of which Ukrainian air defences neutralised 115.

Russia's defence ministry said its forces hit a power station in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, a warehouse in the surrounding region and another power station in the Khmelnitskiy region. It also said it targeted port infrastructure in Chornomorsk and a cargo vessel en route to Odesa that it said was used for military purposes. Ukraine has not confirmed those Russian claims, and casualty and damage reports from both sides in the war are often difficult to verify independently in the immediate aftermath of overnight strikes.

Zelenskyy links refinery strikes to energy attacks

In an interview aired on Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine would halt its strikes on Russian oil refineries if Moscow stopped hitting Ukrainian power infrastructure. He said the United States should alternatively allow the use of Starshield over Russia to detect missile launch sites, or supply Ukraine with Patriot missiles. The United States has pressed Ukraine to suspend the refinery strikes, arguing they add to high energy prices. Zelenskyy has previously said Ukraine needs roughly 350 Patriot missiles a month, and Ignat warned that Russia has the capacity to fire more than 300 ballistic missiles a month, underlining the pressure on Ukraine's air defences as winter approaches.
