Storm Boelo: Amber Wind Warnings Remain Across Northern UK on 25 October 2026

Warnings stay in place into Sunday evening
Amber warnings for wind remained in place until 9pm on Sunday 25 October 2026 after Storm Boelo battered the north of the United Kingdom, according to reports of Met Office warnings. The warnings covered Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland and the far north of England, and came into force at 9pm on Saturday. Forecasters expected gusts of 60 to 70mph across the warning area, with even stronger gusts in exposed coastal spots.
Storm Boelo was the second named storm of the season to affect the UK in two days. It followed Storm Austen, which brought strong winds on Friday. During that earlier storm, gusts of 76mph were recorded at St Mary's Airport in the Isles of Scilly, with 74mph at Aberporth in south Wales and 71mph at Culdrose in Cornwall, the reports said.
Gusts, rain and flood alerts
Before the weekend was over, the Met Office had already recorded a maximum gust of 75mph at South Uist Range in the Western Isles. Heavy rain also fell widely. Since 8am on Saturday, White Barrow in Wiltshire recorded 72mm of rain, while Cwm Dyli in North Wales and Inveruglas near Loch Lomond each recorded 43mm.
The Environment Agency issued 58 flood alerts across England, meaning flooding was possible, and 12 flood warnings, meaning flooding was expected. In Scotland, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency issued 30 flood warnings and 11 flood alerts. A yellow warning for wind was also expected to return on Tuesday, from 3am until midnight, for the north of England, Scotland and the north-east coast of Northern Ireland. Travellers and residents in warning areas were advised to check local forecasts before setting out.
