Swansea Shooting: Man, 41, and Boy, 16, Arrested

Two people have been arrested after a car was damaged by gunfire on a busy road in Swansea, prompting armed police to swoop on the area and the force to declare a critical incident. South Wales Police said a vehicle on the A48 Clase Road in Morriston sustained damage "consistent with a firearms discharge" at about 5.10pm on Friday. A 41-year-old man from Llansamlet was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, while a 16-year-old boy, also from Llansamlet, was arrested on suspicion of affray. Both remain in police custody.
Armed response and critical incident
Armed officers attended the scene near an Asda superstore, supported by a police helicopter, and roads in the area were closed while officers investigated. One person suffered minor injuries, and police said they were not aware of any major injuries or fatalities. The force said a criminal investigation is under way and a policing presence will remain visible in the area while inquiries continue. Roads closed during the incident have since reopened.
Investigation continues
Police have not confirmed the type of firearm involved, how many shots were fired, or who owned the damaged vehicle. Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones thanked the public for their understanding, describing the incident as distressing for residents of Morriston and Llansamlet. Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police. The arrests were made on suspicion and no charges have been announced, with the investigation still at an early stage.
