A further education college classroom in England

Further education colleges in England will be able to advertise teaching and support staff vacancies on the Department for Education's free Teaching Vacancies Service from Tuesday 10 November 2026, the department has confirmed. The service is already used by schools across England and is now being extended to further education.

The Teaching Vacancies Service gives colleges a free way to advertise roles in one place. Jobseekers can search for vacancies, set up job alerts and apply for roles through the service, instead of checking individual college websites or paid job boards.

The department says the service was developed with colleges, whose feedback helped shape it to meet the needs of the sector. A launch webinar takes place on 10 November for colleges that want to find out more, and invitations are available by emailing the department's further education recruitment team.

The extension could make college vacancies easier to find for people looking for work in further education, including teachers, lecturers and support staff, as well as career changers considering a move into the sector. Colleges recruit for a wide range of roles, from classroom teaching to student support, administration and technical posts.

The service is free for schools and colleges to use and free for jobseekers. College vacancies will appear on the service from 10 November, and jobseekers should check it from that date as colleges begin advertising. Colleges that want to attend the launch webinar should contact the department with details of their nominated attendees.
