The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is recruiting a Pharmaceutical Quality Assessor, with applications closing on 16 November 2026. The vacancy is advertised on GOV.UK and applications must be made through Civil Service Jobs.

The role is at Senior Scientific Officer grade and pays £47,557 a year, with a pension and annual leave starting at 25 days. The assessor will work on marketing authorisations for veterinary medicines, assessing quality data submitted by companies in support of applications and applications to vary existing authorisations.

The quality team also plays a significant role in delivering the VMD's regulatory science strategy. That work includes developing regulatory and scientific guidelines, assessing product defects and supporting the directorate's international activities, including training other veterinary medicines regulators.

The post suits a scientist with experience in pharmaceutical quality assessment, although the full job description and person specification are set out on Civil Service Jobs, where candidates should check the eligibility criteria before applying.

The VMD is the government body responsible for regulating veterinary medicines in the UK, covering their safety, quality and efficacy. The closing date of 16 November leaves just over a week for candidates to prepare and submit an application. The vacancy was published on 21 October 2026, and late applications will not be accepted after the deadline.
