Amazon Promises 30,000 Entry-Level Jobs for Young People by 2030

Amazon has launched its Youth Promise in the UK, committing 30,000 entry-level roles to young people aged 18 to 24 from the areas with the fewest opportunities, from this year through to 2030.

The roles are a mix of permanent and seasonal fixed-term posts in Amazon's operations network, picking, packing and shipping orders at more than 100 sites across the UK. All roles start at £15.10 an hour, the equivalent of more than £31,000 a year pro rata, with private medical insurance and a pension from day one. No CV or previous work experience is required.

Amazon says around a million young people in the UK are not in education, employment or training, the highest rate in a decade. The Youth Promise is aimed at that group, with recruitment events held in local communities: last year Amazon held more than 180 events across the country, and more than 2,800 people started work after attending events run with Jobcentres, local authorities and other partners. New events tailored for young job seekers are planned for 2027 in Merseyside, Stoke-on-Trent, Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire.

Work experience and support

Amazon is also trebling the work experience places it offers each year, from around 900 this year to more than 3,000 a year by 2030, giving more than 10,000 young people a placement in total. Its JOBS Project with Barnardo's will support 2,000 young people between 2027 and 2030, and its supported internship programme for young people with learning disabilities and autism will pass 1,000 places by 2030. Amazon has signed the government's Youth Guarantee and will work with the Department for Work and Pensions to expand the programmes. Applications and guidance are at jobsatamazon.co.uk/youthpromise.
