Barclays has opened applications for its 2027 Technology Developer Graduate Programme in Northampton, with applications closing on 27 November 2026.

The programme is part of Barclays' Expert stream, a one-year targeted, fast-track programme designed to build deep practical knowledge in a chosen specialism. Successful applicants will design, build, test and maintain the software systems used across the bank, working with technologies including Java, C++, C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript and TypeScript, as well as containers, DevOps, cloud, machine learning and real-time systems.

The role is based at Barclays Campus, Pavilion Drive, in Northampton. The bank is running the same intake in Knutsford and Glasgow, with each location advertised separately, so applicants apply for the location they want.

Applicants need a strong degree, or an expected degree, achieved before June 2027. Barclays says it will accept applications from candidates who need visa sponsorship and will provide a Skilled Worker visa for successful applicants who meet the Home Office's eligibility criteria. Applicants who are not eligible for sponsorship will need their own legal right to work in the UK on a full-time basis from August 2027 to August 2028.

Barclays accepts one application per candidate per year across its graduate and internship programmes. The bank warns the vacancy may close ahead of the advertised date if application volumes are high, so candidates are advised to apply early. No salary is stated on the application page. Applications are made through Barclays' careers site.
