Bitcoin traded steadily near $78,000 on Sunday 1 November after a turbulent week marked by two high-profile crypto security incidents. According to CoinGecko data cited by Bitcoinist, the coin gained about 1 per cent in 24 hours and moved in a range from $77,303 to $78,134, briefly pushing above the $78,000 mark.

Polymarket refunds and Binance withdrawals

Prediction market Polymarket said it had refunded 689 of the 726 wallets affected by a breach of its international platform, with the remaining 37 being paid as claims are verified. It is also paying $1.19 million to about 5,500 wallets to compensate traders who lost money during the trading halt that followed the incident. Separately, Binance began restoring Bitcoin withdrawals on Sunday, having replaced about 90 to 95 per cent of stolen assets according to the reports.

A partial rebound, not a full recovery

Despite Sunday's steadier tone, Bitcoin remained about 3.7 per cent lower over seven days, and had fallen to a six-week low near $77,300 on Thursday after more than $1.6 billion in leveraged bets were wiped out. The wider crypto market was valued at about $2.68 trillion, up 0.7 per cent, with Bitcoin accounting for about 58.4 per cent of that total. The $80,000 level remains the next reference point watched by traders.

Market watchers also noted mixed moves elsewhere: Lighter's LIT token rose about 18 per cent, while most large coins moved only modestly. Sunday's calm therefore reads as stabilisation after a shock, rather than a confirmed turnaround. This report is market news only and is not investment advice.
