World Series winners Brewers take trophy to SNL

Milwaukee's World Series celebrations have reached Saturday Night Live. Christian Yelich, Brice Turang and manager Pat Murphy appeared on the show's Weekend Update segment on the Halloween episode on 31 October, with Turang carrying the Commissioner's Trophy, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. They joined former cast member Bobby Moynihan, who revived his Drunk Uncle character, opening with the line: "My dream of a beer winning the World Series finally came true! Brewers in five baby!"
Host Colin Jost introduced the segment by noting Milwaukee's first World Series title, won over Tampa Bay earlier in the week. The trio returned to the stage for the show's sign-off with host Inde Navarrette. The appearance followed a championship parade and rally in downtown Milwaukee on Friday 30 October, attended by over 750,000 fans.
A first title, celebrated everywhere
Milwaukee won its first title in franchise history on Wednesday night, beating Tampa Bay 4-1 in Game 5 in St. Petersburg. The SNL spot is the latest stop on a victory lap that has already taken in the parade, the rally, and, for other Brewers including Jackson Chourio, Cooper Pratt, Antonio Senzatela and Dustin May, a courtside appearance at the Milwaukee Bucks game at Fiserv Forum on 31 October. From a first championship to a late-night comedy stage in three days: the Brewers are making the most of it.
