Cardiff City produced one of the most extraordinary comebacks in their recent history on Saturday, recovering from 4-1 down to beat Burnley 5-4 in a nine-goal Championship thriller at Cardiff City Stadium.

The afternoon looked lost for Brian Barry-Murphy's side when Burnley raced into a 4-1 lead. Largie Ramazani made it 3-1 in the 55th minute, and seven minutes later Alex Robertson diverted Aaron Ramsey's cross into his own net to seemingly settle the contest.

But the turnaround began almost immediately. Barry-Murphy introduced Yousef Salech in place of Ollie Tanner, and the Danish striker finished from Cian Ashford's assist less than two minutes after coming on to make it 4-2. Jack Moylan then converted a penalty in the 75th minute after former Swansea and Wales international Connor Roberts was adjudged to have pushed Salech, cutting the deficit to a single goal.

Seven minutes later Salech struck again, heading home from captain Rubin Colwill's cross to complete his brace and drag Cardiff level at 4-4, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. The game had earlier been stopped for five minutes because of a medical emergency in the Ninian Stand.

Then came the extraordinary finale. Four minutes into stoppage time, Robertson redeemed himself for his earlier own goal, curling a stunning long-range effort into the top corner after being fed by Chris Willock to complete the most unlikely of wins.

Manager Barry-Murphy hailed a special day for his side, revealing that several players had put their bodies on the line to secure one of the most remarkable wins in the club's recent history. The result keeps Cardiff unbeaten at home in the league this season, just three days after they let a 3-0 lead slip in a 3-3 draw with West Ham.
