Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey was evacuated and closed for the day on Sunday, 8 November, after a threat was made against the resort in the morning. Police and emergency crews attended the site, and visitors were asked to leave the park while officers checked the grounds.

A park-wide evacuation was reported during the afternoon, with police officers and sniffer dogs seen at the resort on Leatherhead Road. Chessington Buzz, an account covering news from the park, confirmed that a full evacuation was under way and that emergency services were in attendance.

Police later said the threat had been assessed and no security issues had been found. A police spokesman said the incident was believed to be isolated and that there was no wider risk to the public. The Metropolitan Police urged people not to speculate about the incident while enquiries continued.

The resort issued a closure notice telling guests due to visit on Sunday that their tickets would be accepted at LEGOLAND Windsor, or that they could contact customer services after 2pm. The park said it would provide a further update as soon as possible, and it was not immediately clear when it would reopen.

The A243 Leatherhead Road outside the park was closed in both directions between the B280 Fairoak Lane and Barwell Business Park while police dealt with the incident. The Sun reported that the force had confirmed no security issues had been identified.
