Senior Chinese party official begins Pakistan visit

A senior Chinese Communist Party official has begun an official visit to Pakistan, with leadership meetings and a joint high-level event scheduled for Monday, 2 November. Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, arrived in Islamabad on Sunday, 1 November, on his first official visit to Pakistan.
Who invited him and what is planned
The visit is at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. According to a Foreign Office statement, Liu will call on Pakistan's leadership during the visit and co-chair a high-level event with Dar in Islamabad on 2 November. Reports said he was received on arrival by Senator Anusha Rahman Khan and Dr Mohammad Faisal, Additional Secretary for Asia Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Why the visit matters to both sides
Pakistan's Foreign Office presents the trip as part of ongoing high-level and party-to-party exchanges between the two countries. It comes in the 75th anniversary year of diplomatic relations, which were established on 21 May 1951. Both sides describe their relationship as an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, built on political trust, economic cooperation and regional stability.
What to watch next
No agreements or joint outcomes had been reported at the time of arrival. The substance of the visit will therefore be judged by what, if anything, emerges from the 2 November event and the leadership meetings — not by the arrival itself. Sources: DNA News Agency and Pakistan TV.
