The Election Commission of Pakistan has directed all lawmakers to submit their annual statements of assets and liabilities by 31 December 2026, warning that those who fail to comply will face suspension.

The instruction applies to members of the Senate, the National Assembly and all four provincial assemblies. The declarations must cover the financial year 2025-26 and set out assets and liabilities held as of 30 June 2026, including those of lawmakers' spouses and dependent children.

Filing the annual statement is a mandatory requirement under Section 137 of the Elections Act, 2017, which requires every member of an assembly and the Senate to submit a copy of the statement on Form B on or before 31 December each year.

The commission said the names of members who fail to submit their statements by the deadline will be made public on 1 January 2027. Lawmakers will then have a grace period until 15 January 2027 to comply. Members who still have not filed by that date will have their membership suspended by an order of the commission on 16 January, and will cease to function until they submit the required declaration.

The commission also cautioned that providing misleading or false information about assets and liabilities could result in legal proceedings under the laws governing corrupt practices.

The prescribed Form B, along with instructions and guidelines, can be obtained free of cost from the Election Commission Secretariat in Islamabad, the offices of the provincial election commissioners, the Senate Secretariat, the National Assembly Secretariat and the secretariats of the provincial assemblies.
