Edinburgh has been hit by a third weather warning in a matter of days, with a Met Office yellow wind warning in force from 3am to 9pm on Tuesday 27 October 2026.

The warning brings strong winds that may lead to “damaging gusts” and transport disruption, according to the Met Office forecast. It is the third warning to affect the city after Storm Austen on Friday and Storm Boelo on Saturday and Sunday.

Which parks are closed

As a result of the warning, City of Edinburgh Council has closed three parks for Tuesday: Princes Street Gardens, Lauriston Castle Grounds and Saughton Winter Gardens.

In a statement on X, the council said: “Following a Met Office warning for high winds, we’ll be closing Princes Street Gardens, Lauriston Castle Grounds, and Saughton Winter Gardens tomorrow (Tuesday 27 October).” The council added that the parks would reopen on Wednesday 28 October “as soon as it is safe to do so”.

Third warning in days

Edinburgh and the Lothians were battered by wind and rain during the two storms, with roads closed, planes diverted, cancelled or delayed, and some properties affected by power cuts.

The latest yellow warning ends at 9pm on Tuesday. The Met Office adds: “A spell of strong winds may lead to damaging gusts and transport disruption.”
