European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos is in Moldova from 8 to 10 November to discuss the country's progress on its path towards European Union membership and to advance regional cooperation on digital connectivity, the European Commission has announced.

During the three-day visit, Kos will meet President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu and other senior officials to discuss accession priorities, economic development and sectoral reforms. She will also address the Moldovan Parliament and deliver a speech at the Annual EU Enlargement Conference.

On Monday, the Commissioner will take part in a high-level Connectivity Platform meeting on digital connectivity, focusing on advancing regional projects and investments along the Middle Corridor, the trade route linking Europe with Central Asia. She will also attend a European Business Association event marking 15 years of its work, alongside Prime Minister Tofan, the association's executive director Mariana Rufa and its president Carolina Bugaian.

On Tuesday, Kos will meet staff of the Bureau of European Integration, the Moldovan body central to the country's EU integration work. The Commission says the visit underlines the European Union's continued support for Moldova's reform efforts, its accession ambitions and its role in strengthening regional connectivity.

By deepening cooperation on energy, digital infrastructure and economic development, the Commission says, the visit will help advance practical projects that bring benefits to citizens and businesses while bringing Moldova closer to the European Union.
