FSA seeks five Northern Ireland food advisers

The Food Standards Agency is recruiting five new members for its Northern Ireland Food Advisory Committee, with applications closing at 4pm on Friday 27 November 2026.
The committee advises the agency on food and feed issues, with particular emphasis on Northern Ireland. It is chaired by the Food Standards Agency Board Member for Northern Ireland, Anthony Harbinson. The agency published the recruitment notice on GOV.UK on Monday 2 November 2026 at 09:00.
Experience sought
Applicants are sought with experience in one or more areas including the food industry, farming, public health, consumer interests, environmental health, nutrition, food or agricultural science or education, and public policy development. The notice does not state a salary, term length or hours for the roles, and none is given here.
Advisory committee members provide independent advice rather than making enforcement decisions themselves, but their input shapes how food safety issues affecting Northern Ireland are assessed. The committee's Northern Ireland focus matters because food and feed rules, supply chains and cross-border trade give the region distinct issues from the rest of the UK. Anyone interested should apply through the official GOV.UK notice before the 27 November deadline, as late applications are not covered by the announcement.
