Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged at least three million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, at a campaign rally in Port Harcourt on Saturday, 7 November 2026.

Three-million-vote pledge

Fubara gave the assurance during President Tinubu's campaign rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, saying Rivers State would reciprocate the President's support for the state. "Under the guidance and leadership of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, we will deliver not less than three million votes for you," he declared.

The rally was organised by the Rainbow Coalition, led by Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Fubara's predecessor as Rivers governor. Fubara said his administration would campaign and mobilise voters across the state to secure Tinubu's re-election in the presidential election scheduled for 16 January 2027.

Rainbow Coalition and reconciliation

Fubara also announced that Rivers State would maintain a Rainbow Coalition bringing together structures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and said he would work under Wike's guidance as coordinator of the presidential campaign council in the state. The coalition's candidates are to be presented in January 2027.

President Tinubu thanked Rivers voters for their support in the 2023 presidential election and sought their renewed backing to consolidate his administration's gains. He urged young people to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and take part in the 2027 election, saying their future depended on the outcome, and he presented his manifesto for the election at the rally.

Tinubu also commended the reconciliation between Fubara and Wike, whose political crisis had escalated in March 2025 when the President declared a state of emergency in Rivers State. Emergency rule was lifted in September 2025, restoring the elected officials to office.
