Gaza Death Toll Reaches 74,640, Health Ministry Says

Gaza's Health Ministry says the death toll from the war on the Strip since 7 October 2023 has reached 74,640, with 175,947 people wounded. The figures were reported by the ministry on Saturday morning, according to ABNA.

Hospitals across Gaza received eight bodies, including two recovered from rubble, and 22 wounded people over the past 24 hours, the ministry said in its daily report. Separate reporting by Middle East Eye, citing medical sources, put the toll at the same figures after 10 deaths in the previous 48 hours.

Since the ceasefire agreement took effect on 10 October 2025, at least 1,610 Palestinians have been killed and 5,819 others injured, the ministry said. The figures have not been independently verified, and the United Nations relays the ministry's totals rather than verifying them.

The updated toll comes as Gaza's health system remains under severe strain. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned in a report published on 6 November that Israeli restrictions on essential supplies and equipment were threatening the territory's already overstretched health services, with hospitals short of medicines and equipment.

Gaza's Health Ministry has also called for an international investigation into a rise in congenital anomalies among newborns, reporting 260 cases in the first nine months of 2026, compared with 184 throughout 2022. The ministry said possible contributing factors included maternal malnutrition, exposure to environmental pollutants and interruptions to prenatal care during the war.
