Ghanaian Teen Prince Abdul Malik Shot Dead in Toronto

A young Ghanaian man identified in Ghanaian media reports as Prince Abdul Malik has been shot dead in Etobicoke, in the west of Toronto, Canada. The shooting happened shortly before 4.30pm on Saturday, 7 November 2026, near the junction of Rathburn Road and The East Mall.
Toronto police officers called to the scene found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital, where he later died. Police believe the victim was in his teens or early twenties, but they have not officially released his identity.
Officers are searching for at least two male suspects who were reported to be dressed in dark clothing. No arrests had been made at the time of reporting, and police have not disclosed a motive. The Toronto Police Service homicide unit has taken over the investigation.
Canadian broadcasters CBC News and CP24, cited by NewsAlert GH, reported that Toronto Police Inspector Jeff Allington told reporters the victim was rushed to hospital after life-saving measures were attempted at the scene. Police closed the northbound section of The East Mall at Rathburn Road while investigators examined the area.
The killing is the second fatal shooting of a young Ghanaian in North America within a week. Javits Frimpong was shot dead in the Bronx, New York, seven days earlier, a sequence that has deepened concern among Ghanaians at home and abroad about the safety of young people in the diaspora. The mother of Prince Abdul Malik has spoken of her grief in a video shared online.
