Gravesend Manslaughter Verdict After Fatal Alley Stabbing

A man has been convicted of manslaughter over a fatal stabbing in Gravesend after a jury at Maidstone Crown Court cleared him of murder. Altin Shehu, 34, was found guilty on Friday 6 November 2026 following a trial into the death of Vladimirs Perminovs.
Mr Perminovs suffered multiple stab wounds during a confrontation in an alleyway in Gravesend on Tuesday 12 August 2025 and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital. Kent Police said the violence followed a disagreement over money earlier that day, after which a group arranged to meet at a property in St Augustine Road.
Within minutes of the group meeting, the confrontation moved into a nearby alleyway, where Mr Perminovs was stabbed. The incident was captured on a neighbour's mobile phone, and officers used the footage to identify Shehu. Forensic tests on discarded clothing also found blood matching him, police said.
Shehu fled the UK and returned to Albania after the stabbing. Following extensive enquiries he was located, arrested and extradited to the United Kingdom in May 2026 to stand trial. A man and a woman who faced the same murder charge were also found not guilty. Detective Sergeant James Dolby said the verdict brought an end to a complex investigation and that he hoped it would bring some measure of justice and closure to everyone affected.
