Haris Rauf Fined After On-Field Row in Lahore ODI

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been fined 20% of his match fee and handed an official reprimand for breaching the ICC code of conduct during Pakistan's dramatic one-wicket win over England in the ODI tri-series. The International Cricket Council confirmed the sanction on 28 October. Rauf was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the code, which covers conduct contrary to the spirit of the game, and one demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record.
The 46th-over flashpoint
The incident came during the 46th over of Pakistan's run chase, with Rauf at the non-striker's end. After appealing for a wide, he exchanged words with England all-rounder Will Jacks and continued the argument despite a warning from umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid. Rauf also brushed past the umpire as he walked towards Jacks. It was Rauf's third offence within 24 months, taking his total to five demerit points — close to a suspension under ICC rules. Both Rauf and England captain Harry Brook accepted match referee Jeff Crowe's proposed sanctions, so no formal hearing was needed.
A thrilling win, overshadowed
The disciplinary news arrived in the wake of a remarkable match. Shadab Khan scored an unbeaten 113 and shared an 89-run last-wicket partnership with Rauf to stun England, sealing Pakistan's place in Saturday's tri-series final. England, meanwhile, were fined 15% of their match fee for a slow over-rate, finishing three overs behind the required target. Rauf's contribution with the bat made the win possible, but the fine is a reminder officials will act even in a tense chase. With a final against Sri Lanka in Lahore on 31 October, Pakistan will need their fast bowler firing — and disciplined — to lift the trophy at home.
