Seven people were killed and at least 20 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a dumper truck on the Hazara Motorway near Abbottabad on Friday, rescue officials said. The crash happened near the Havelian Interchange, and emergency services were activated at two major hospitals in the city, Pakistan Point reported.

The bus was travelling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when it struck the dumper truck. Rescue officials said the bus suffered a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control before the collision, according to Abb Takk News, citing rescue officials. The dead included a woman and a child, and the victims were reported to be from Gilgit.

Rescue operation and hospital response

The injured were taken to hospitals in Abbottabad, including the Ayub Medical Complex and the District Headquarters Hospital, where emergency services were put on alert. The Deputy Commissioner of Abbottabad said the injured were receiving medical care, and hospitals in the city were activated immediately after the crash.

The number of injured was reported differently by different outlets on Friday, with figures ranging from 20 to 30, so the final count may still change as hospitals confirm their admissions. The cause of the crash, beyond the reported tyre burst, has not been formally established, and no official inquiry outcome has yet been announced.

Second fatal crash on the same day

The Abbottabad crash was one of two fatal road accidents reported in Pakistan on Friday. In a separate incident in Bhakkar district, four people, including two women and two children, were killed when a tractor-trolley overturned near Khusor Road. The two accidents together left at least 11 people dead and more than 30 injured, according to rescue officials cited by Abb Takk.
