Home Office Recruits Administrative Officers as 9 November Deadline Nears

The Home Office is recruiting Administrative Officers to join its Immigration and Citizenship Service, with applications closing on 9 November 2026.

The roles pay £30,920 a year in Cardiff, Durham, Leeds, Newport and Peterborough, or £34,920 in Feltham, west London. They are permanent posts at Administrative Officer grade, offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

The Immigration and Citizenship Service manages the UK's immigration and identity systems, including visas, citizenship, resettlement and British passports. It also maintains civil records, including births, marriages and deaths. Administrative Officers help deliver those services, making decisions for customers, preparing case files, updating records, answering calls and booking appointments. Some of the work involves face-to-face identity interviews and language analysis interviews.

The Home Office says the work is varied and suited to people who communicate confidently, work well with others and stay organised when priorities change. Applicants must meet the high standards of conduct and behaviour expected of a civil servant.

Reserve list for future roles

Candidates who meet the required criteria may be placed on a reserve list for up to 12 months, with appointments made in merit order by location as opportunities arise. Being placed on the list does not guarantee a job offer. Applications are made through the Home Office careers site, and the closing date is 9 November 2026.
