India and the United States have concluded the fifth edition of Exercise Tiger Triumph, their bilateral tri-service humanitarian assistance and disaster relief exercise, with a closing ceremony in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, 5 November.

The six-day exercise ran from 31 October to 5 November and brought together the army, navy and air force of both countries. It comprised a staff exercise and a tabletop exercise, focused on planning and carrying out combined disaster-relief operations, with particular emphasis on joint amphibious missions.

The closing ceremony was attended by Rear Admiral Vishal Bishnoi, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy, and Rear Admiral Joaquin J. Martinez de Pinillos, Vice Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, alongside senior officers from both sides. India's National Disaster Response Force also took part in the exercise.

First held in 2019, Tiger Triumph has become a regular part of India-US defence cooperation, aimed at improving how the two countries' armed forces work together when disaster strikes. The 2026 edition was designed to strengthen interoperability and mutual understanding in planning combined relief operations.

The exercise also gave the two sides a chance to rehearse the command and communications links they would rely on in a real disaster, when troops, ships and aircraft from different countries must work from a shared plan. Read the full report from India Strategic.
