Israeli troops stormed a school and raided several homes in southern Syria on Saturday, 7 November, in the latest ground incursion across the ceasefire line in Quneitra province.

Syria's state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya said a patrol of 14 Israeli military vehicles entered the village of al-Samadaniyah al-Gharbiyah, where soldiers forced open the school's gate and entered the grounds. The report gave no details of casualties or arrests.

Qatar News Agency, reporting from Damascus, said the force carried out search operations in the village of Western Samadaniyah and set up a manned checkpoint on the fringes of the nearby village of Taranja. The agency said the incursion came a day after Israeli forces pushed into the Daraa and Quneitra countryside, mustering near the village of Maariya in western Daraa amid heavy drone activity.

Anadolu Agency reported that Israeli troops also set up a temporary checkpoint earlier on Saturday in northern Quneitra, while another unit advanced towards Wadi al-Raqad in western Daraa. Israeli engineering units continued building fortifications near Saida al-Hanout in southern Quneitra, the agency said.

Israeli forces have repeatedly carried out incursions in the southern Syrian provinces of Quneitra and Daraa since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad government in December 2024, setting up checkpoints, searching homes, detaining civilians and bulldozing farmland. Israel has also expanded its military presence in the buffer zone between Syria and the occupied Golan Heights.

Damascus says the incursions violate Syrian sovereignty and the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement, and has repeatedly demanded that Israeli forces withdraw from Syrian territory.
