Jokic reaches 200 triple-doubles as Nuggets beat Pelicans

Nikola Jokic became only the second player in NBA history to record 200 career triple-doubles, reaching the milestone as the Denver Nuggets beat the New Orleans Pelicans 104-91 on Wednesday night.
Jokic finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, his second triple-double of the season, with both coming against New Orleans. He joins Russell Westbrook, the all-time leader with 209 triple-doubles in 18 seasons, as the only players to reach 200.
Murray leads Denver's scoring
Jamal Murray led Denver with 23 points, while Aaron Gordon recorded a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. All five Nuggets starters finished in double figures, and Christian Braun hit back-to-back three-pointers during a critical late stretch as Denver held off a late push from the hosts.
Williamson top-scores in defeat
Zion Williamson scored a game-high 25 points for New Orleans, but no other Pelican scored more than 11 except Derik Queen, who came off the bench for 11 points and 12 rebounds. The defeat continues a difficult start for the hosts, while Denver's win keeps their early-season momentum going.
Jokic, a 12-year NBA veteran, has built his reputation on passing and rebounding as much as scoring, and this milestone underlines how central that all-round game has become to Denver's identity. The Nuggets will now look to build on the win as the season develops.
