Leigh Man Jailed for 22 Child Sex Offences

A man from Leigh has been jailed for five years and seven months after pleading guilty to 22 sexual offences against a child.
Robert Erdei, of Leigh, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on 6 November, according to BritBrief. He admitted 13 counts of sexual activity with a child, eight counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
The offences took place between October and December 2024, and the victim was under 16. Greater Manchester Police said Erdei was arrested after a report by a partner agency, and investigators identified evidence of a range of sexual offending before submitting a case file to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The sentencing followed guilty pleas to all 22 counts, which the court heard spanned a three-month period from October to December 2024.
Detective Sergeant Pyke, of the Child Protection Investigation Unit based in Wigan, described the abuse as horrific for the family and said it was carried out against one of the most vulnerable victims.
Police said the case showed the importance of reporting concerns about children, and anyone with information about child sexual abuse can contact Greater Manchester Police on 101 or through the force's live chat service.
