London bus fares rise to £1.85 from 1 November 2026

London bus and tram passengers are paying more from 1 November 2026, as the adult pay-as-you-go single fare rises by 10p, from £1.75 to £1.85. The increase ends a freeze that had held the single fare at £1.75 since March 2023, making it the first rise in more than three years.

The Hopper fare continues in its existing form: passengers using the same Oyster card, contactless card or device can make unlimited bus and tram journeys within one hour for the price of a single fare, now £1.85. The daily bus and tram cap rises from £5.25 to £5.55, while a one-day Bus and Tram Pass rises from £6 to £6.40. Passengers with an eligible concession card see a smaller rise of 5p.

What has not changed

Tube, rail and Travelcard price caps are not affected by this change and remain frozen until March 2027. Transport for London (TfL) has said revenue raised from fares is reinvested in improving services across the network, and that it remains committed to keeping public transport affordable and accessible.

Why the freeze ended

The Mayor of London had extended the bus and tram fare freeze several times as a cost-of-living measure, including an extension through the summer of 2026. TfL had previously said that, without those freezes, a single fare would have been higher than the £1.75 passengers had paid since 2023. The November rise brings the single fare to £1.85, still only 35p higher than it was ten years earlier, according to TfL.
